Japan Chronicles: Kyoto Trip

After a year, I was able to post photos of our Kyoto Trip last April 2016. 🙂 Post to be updated later on.

Japan Chronicles: Tokyo Day 1

After our Osaka-Kyoto trip (pics to be uploaded), we headed to Tokyo, Japan’s main city. 🙂 We rode the Nozomi bullet train from Shin Osaka station, it was really fast travelling at 300 km/h. I will post a video of our Shinkansen ride one of these days. We arrived at Tokyo at around  6 in the evening. The Tokyo city vibe was different, people were rushing since it’s a weekday. We reached our AirBnB place at Meguro at around 7 in the evening. The air was not that cold unlike from Osaka. I was able to wear shorts and stockings during dinner.

Our Tokyo exploration really started the day after… After having our lunch at Yoshinoya (beef bowl here looks way different but it sure was tasty!), we went to Shinjuku Gyoen garden to take some photos of the cherry blossoms. It was fortunate that some trees were still in full bloom despite the fact that they started blooming the last week of March to first week of April. There was an entrance fee but it’s not that expensive. It was really a feast for the eyes seeing those sakura trees. We weren’t able to explore the whole place since Gid said that the trees were just repeating and we were able to took pictures already.

After that we went to Akihabara station, it’s not only the home to Japan’s electronics, but also to a lot of anime stuff! We were able to buy a spare battery for Gid’s GoPro. For me I just searched for One Piece merchandise since my siblings are huge fans of the show. XD Afterwards we went to Asakusa to visit a famous shrine there. I got my fate predicted there, it turned out to be… *secret* 😉 Our visit to the temple was just short, we took a bus to Tokyo skytree. The viewing deck opens at 6:30 pm, since we’re early we just stayed at Starbucks. The choice of drinks were almost the same in SG, except for the Cantaloupe drink. It was refreshing, but I think I won’t buy it again haha. It’s like drinking normal melon shake but with a Starbucks logo. 😛 There’s an entrance fee also to SkyTree, I forgot how much it was. There were also a lot of people in queue at 6 pm since it’s the optimal time to view the city lights. Of all the towers we visited from our past travels, I can say that I liked Tokyo Skytree the most. The view of Tokyo was amazing. ❤ Also there was a mini show of “window washers” hanging at the side of the tower. We weren’t able to understand what they’re really doing since they’re conversing in Nihonggo. We just decided to have our picture taken at the photograph booth and stayed ’til our time was up.

After Skytree, we went back to Shinjuku to meet my college batchmates, Tiff and Izza. They were also taking a vacation in Japan. They said that another batchmate, Kim, will join us. She started working in Japan after our graduation, I haven’t seen her since then. We ate at Ichiran Ramen for dinner. There was a looong queue before us. I’m not really a fan of ramen, but this one’s really delicious!!! I was able to finish it all, even the soup. The same thing goes for Gid, he said that it’s his first time to enjoy ramen (mind you, he only eats chicken karaage and beef misono whenever we have japanese cuisine T_T) . We did some catch ups and said our goodbyes. I hope to see them again when I go home in the Philippines or when they visit SG. It was sure tiring to be walking around the city, but the views made it worth it.

Below are some photos of our trip (I’ll upload more pics later on). 🙂

Malaysia: Legoland x Hello Kitty Town

Finally able to tick this off my bucket list. I always wanted to go to Legoland and Hello Kitty town (since I love hello kitty very much). 😀

Place I’d Rather Be.

After months of staying in Singapore, I decided to have an impromptu visit to the Philippines. I went home not because I’m feeling homesick or any. I went home because I want to surprise my family (they’re expecting me to go home on October hehe >:)), to catchup with friends, to shop (yay for cheaper goods), and most of all to hug and kiss Ashe my beloved cat. :3

It was my first time to go home since I arrived in SG last November. I wasn’t able to allot time to some of my friends but I’ll make it up to them the next time I return. ;_;

Below is the summary of my short stay captured in pictures:

As cliche as it may be there’s really no place like home. See you Philippines on October and December again. 😊

Batam – Wakeboarding :)

Last Sunday, my officemates and I went to Batam, Indonesia for some wakeboarding. Aside from visiting my second country outside the Philippines, it was also my second time to try such water activity. :)) My first time was at Nuvali, Laguna (Philippines) last 2014. I remembered that after around 5 tries, Rosie and I just watched the others ride the wakeboard.

Wakeboarders: Vince, Rosie, Franklyn, Gid and I…
2014 🙂

Well, enough of reminiscing…

We met at Harbourfront to get our ferry boarding passes. Being the “lucky” one <insert sarcasm here>, I was stopped by the immigrations officer since the passport number written on my boarding pass was not mine. 😐 I have to look for the ferry services to get a new pass.

Ticket with wrong passport number. T_T

I was really anxious that the ship might leave me. Good thing that they waited for me, we were running towards the ferry since the crew were already calling our names. The trip to Batam was short, it’s just around 30-45 minutes. Only discomfort I had was the rocking of the ferry ( guess can’t be avoided *boo sea sickness*). I just slept during the ride since I can’t do anything with my phone because my roaming wasn’t enabled.

We rode a bus going to CableSki, the wakeboard place. For first-timers they asked us to use the knee board before the actual wakeboard. Charles and I were the newbies when it comes to wakeboarding so we tried the knee board. I reached the far end of the lake but eventually lost my hold of the handle due to the sudden turn. :S Swimming to the shore seemed tedious since my legs got tired easily due to the “japanese sitting” position. When I reached the shore, there’s a motorcycle waiting for me to bring me back. It would be really far from the starting point if you opt to go back by foot. I just tried knee boarding once… =))

They served buffet for lunch. After having our fill, we played billiards and table tennis. They told me that I’m good at billiards even if I’m just a beginner. (must hone my skills more) :))

Later on we decided to try the wake boards. It was really frustrating!!! I wasn’t able to go far… 😦 But at least I’m farther than Charles HAHA. =)) They told me that I already got the correct position, all I need to do is to lock my arms on the side.

After my many failed attempts of standing on the wakeboard and hydrating myself with the lake’s water *eew* I decided to take a rest. ~_~ Later on, Gid and I tried wakeboarding using only one board for the two of us. :)) It was also an epic fail! We kept on falling in the water. We also decided to give up on doing it together. He asked me to try standing on the wakeboard before CableSki closes. He gave me tips but alas I still fell since my right foot was submerged in the water, making me lose my balance.

FAIL!
HUHUHUHU!

Even though I wasn’t able to stand on the wakeboard properly, I still enjoyed it. 🙂

Going home.

The trip going home was uneventful except for some drunk foreigners roaming around offering their drink to us. We got back to Singapore without any delays. 🙂

THE AFTERMATH:

Body pain causing me to file a medical leave for one day. Been bestfriends with Salonpas for almost 3 days. 😦 :))

Well amidst this I’m still looking forward to the day that I’ll be able to stand on the wakeboard and go around the lake. 🙂

I’ll be back Batam! 😛
